We hope this report will provide a summary and update of policy developments related to post-16 numeracy and maths and stimulate more discussion in a subject which has at last become a high priority. It was the Organistation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) International Adult Literacy Survey (IALS), including ‘quantitative literacy’ which alerted the United Kingdom (UK) to persistent high levels of basic skills.
