This one-day event will be presented by Julie Kay, former head teacher of Mark College in Somerset. Julie will look at factors which affect maths learning, testing to diagnose difficulties, setting up programmes to help overcome the difficulties and using strategies and resources to teach particular areas of mathematics.

Aims

• To consider factors which affect learning in mathematics/numeracy
• To explore methods for diagnosing specific learning difficulties
• To discuss the design of programmes to help overcome learning difficulties
• To investigate strategies and resources to teach particular areas of mathematics/numeracy

Target Audience

• Teachers who teach mainly mathematics and numeracy
• Teachers and trainers of vocational subjects who also teach mathematics and numeracy within their specialist subject
• Learning support practitioners
