An assessment of the English and maths skills levels of prisoners in England

IMG_7770_opt

This report provides an up to date account of the literacy and numeracy skills of the prison population in England. It is based on an analysis of assessments of the literacy and numeracy skills for every prisoner entering the criminal justice system between August 2014 and July 2015. The report then draws comparisons between the prison and general population and identifies areas for further research. We believe this represents important data for all those with an interest in prison education.
